Performance Artist

Dance and movement has inspired me on a life-long journey of passionate discovery.

Performance Artist

The power of embodiment and expressing our stories or life themes through physical theatre, is magical. It is storytelling in its most vibrant form – transforming the invisible into the visible.

As a performer I am interested in the conversation and connection between visual imagery and movement. I am exploring, as an ‘elder woman’, this powerful phase of my life through photography, video and physical theatre.

I believe that storytelling reaches deep within us in a way that talking ‘about it’ can’t. We can see, feel and touch stories that might not be told in other ways by using visual metaphors, embodiment and mythical themes.

Theatre and the performance arts have the power to tell some of those stories and to bring profound change in people’s lives through creating, performing or by witnessing.

My background

Dance and physical theatre is my background. I started my journey as a dancer in Copenhagen and then attended Dartington College of Arts as a student in Dance and Theatre Studies. Under the tutorship of Mary Fulkerson, I became one of the pioneers of Contact Improvisation – at the time an acclaimed new dance practise.

I formed my own dance company touring all over Europe. Some further life-leaps down the line, I was involved in Playback Theatre and helped set up a local company.

One of my key influences as a Performance Artist has been attending a professional development intensive with Gecko Theatre in London. The approach to physical theatre kick-started an exciting journey for me.

I subsequently trained with London International School for Performance Arts, now Arthaus, Berlin where I’ve been studying on the Integral Movement and Performance Practise MA course.

It’s been a challenging, life affirming and fabulous exploration and adventure.

Several projects, performances and a pandemic later, I am now on another phase of discovery.
